What do we offer?
Each sensor chip contains multiple discrete optical sensor areas, allowing numerous targets to be detected on one chip, or providing the means to test a number of samples in one go. Our portable technology is small and robust, so it can be readily used in the field. This gives it a wide range of applications in veterinary and medical diagnostics, as well as for biothreat detection in civilian and military settings.
How does the Stratophase biodetect solution work?
Stratophase optical chips are capable of monitoring changes in refractive index, at the surface of the chip. When used for biodetection, an immunoassay sensor is created by highly-specific receptor molecules such as antibodies being attached to the optical microchip's surface. When in the field the sample to be tested is delivered to the immunoassay sensor in solution via micro fluidics. If a target of interest is present in the sample being tested, it binds to its complementary receptor thereby altering the local refractive index at the surface of the chip.
How can it be used?
SpectroSens immunoassay sensors are supplied as consumable cartridges that are ergonomic and robust. The cartridges can be 'read' on-site via a portable brief-case analysis unit, or can be hooked up to pseudo-continuous air monitoring systems. After use, each cartridge can be simply and quickly replaced. Each cartridge houses multiple sensor pads, allowing single samples to be effectively screened for a range of targets, or multiple samples to be screened in parallel for a lower number of targets.
